The talk looks at the story of how a family man’s ordinary night at work turned into a crime that shocked the community. The 19th century murder of Wigan Pit worker James Barton was ‘a murder most gross\, foul and unnatural’. Marianne Howell is the chair of the Lancashire Local History Fedeartion.
